The writing we built it for
Colletta is for small technical and writing teams. Write design docs, project briefs, research notes, documentation and meeting notes together.
Engineering
Design docs and decisions
Draft a design doc with the people who will build it, in the same file at the same time. Record decisions with the Decision record template, link them from the docs they shape, and download the documents you can export as markdown for the repository.
What helps
- The Decision record template
- Code blocks with highlighting and a copy button
- Links that survive a rename, with a one-click fix when a heading changes
- Downloads as .md, ready for git
Product
Project briefs the team can comment on
Start from the Project brief template, invite comments on the parts that need them, and resolve threads as decisions land. Tables can be edited and sorted from the keyboard.
What helps
- The Project brief template
- Comments on the exact words, and @mentions
- Tables you can edit and sort from the keyboard
- Named versions, like "Sent for review"
Research
Shared notes from interviews and workshops
Several people take notes in the same document during an interview or a workshop. Quotes, footnotes and task lists are plain markdown, and search finds them later across every document you can open.
What helps
- Live editing, with everyone's name on their cursor
- Quotes, footnotes and task lists
- Search across every document you can open
- Who wrote what, in History
Docs and open source
Documentation that stays markdown from draft to repository
Write documentation together and keep it plain CommonMark with GitHub Flavored Markdown, ready for the repository that publishes it. Drafts stay private to their author and co-authors until published, and restricted folders limit who can open published work.
What helps
- CommonMark with GitHub Flavored Markdown
- Callouts that GitHub shows too
- Drafts, private until you publish
- A folder downloads as one .zip
Every team
Meeting notes everyone adds to at once
Open the Meeting notes template, type /today for the date, and let everyone add their own points at once. Mention someone in a task-list item to assign it, and if they can open the document, it appears in their My tasks.
What helps
- The Meeting notes template
- /today and /now for the date and time
- Tasks you assign with @ and tick with Ctrl+Enter
- Favorites and quick open, to get back to it
Bring your team's writing together.
