If you try it and it's not for you
We'd rather you use the tool that suits your team than stay because leaving is hard. Here is what you can take with you today, what stays behind, and what's planned.
What you can take with you today
You can download every document you have permission to export, with no need for our help or a support ticket. A workspace can turn exports off for people who can only view.
- Any single document as a
.mdfile. - A folder, or the whole workspace, as a
.zipof.mdfiles in their folders. Drafts are left out unless you include your own. - Images uploaded to those documents, in an
_imagesfolder, with the links rewritten so they work offline. Images from other sites stay as links. - Each file's last edit time, kept on the files in the zip.
- Plain CommonMark with GitHub Flavored Markdown, so any markdown tool can open it.
- A formatted copy of any document, through Print or save as PDF.
What stays behind
- Comments, open suggestions and version history stay in Colletta. Downloads contain the current text only.
- Links between documents still point to Colletta, so they won't open in other tools. Exports that rewrite them are planned.
- An uploaded image in a single downloaded
.mdstill points to Colletta. Download the folder or workspace to keep the images.
Delete your account
When you delete your account, you're signed out everywhere at once. Your personal details are erased after 30 days unless you cancel, but your comments and edits stay in their workspaces, shown as Former member. Download anything you need first.
What we plan to add
Not available yet. They move to the changelog when they ship.
- Exports you can restore into Colletta, and a backup of your documents to GitHub.
- Exports that rewrite links between documents so they work in other tools.
If you stop paying
Paid plans have not started. As planned, a workspace whose payment lapses becomes read-only after a grace period instead of being locked, people who can export can still download on every plan, and nothing is deleted without warning.
Pricing describes the planned plans.
Try it with your team.
Access is by invitation during the private beta. If it doesn't suit your team, you can download every document you have permission to export.
